Password Protected Directories
What are password-protected directories? What do they signify for your Internet site?
If you would like keep some content concealed from the public eye, you are able to enable password protection for a particular folder - either the main Internet site folder or another one below it. If this option is activated, a pop-up shall appear anytime someone tries to open the folder in question or clicks on a direct link that goes a few levels deeper, so login info shall be needed for www.domain.com/folder/image.jpg in case you have protected the domain.com folder. In case the credentials aren't valid, a “403 Forbidden” message shall appear and there isn't any way of getting around this restriction, so you can rest assured that nobody will be able to access the protected content. The option may be helpful in numerous cases - if only a number of individuals need to be able to see specific files, if you are building a site and you don't want people to see it prior to it being completed, etc.

In case a number of individuals require their own login credentials, there will not be a problem to set up a variety of different usernames with access to the same folder. All secured folders shall appear with a padlock icon within the File Manager section, so you will always know where this feature is activated. Password Protected Directories in Semi-dedicated Hosting
When you have a
semi-dedicated server account with our company, you will be able to protect any content which you have uploaded via our protection tool. Its interface is as simple and intuitive as that of the Hepsia CP it's part of, so you'll not have to input any code at any time. You will simply need to pick one of the domains/subdomains you have in the web hosting account and to determine which folder has to be password-protected - the website’s root folder or some folder below it. After that you can input the username and the password, that'll be stored in encrypted form in our system, and you'll be ready. The protection shall be activated straightaway, so anybody who attempts to access the freshly secured folder will have to enter the accurate login details. When a number of people must be able to open exactly the same content, you could set up a separate username for each of them.
